Director of the Three-Year Postgraduate Specialization Program in Periodontology at Sapienza. Clinician at Ground-Perio, the specialist periodontal center in Rome. Adjunct Associate Professor of Periodontology, The Ohio State University College of Dentistry (since 2014). Visiting Researcher, Bone Biology Department, University of California, Los Angeles (1992–2000).

Over 30 years of academic clinical research in wound healing, periodontal regeneration, guided tissue and bone regeneration, peri-implant disease, and the relationship between periodontitis and systemic conditions including rheumatoid arthritis. Holder of the Periodontology chair at the undergraduate dental program, the Dental Hygiene program, and the Postgraduate Periodontology Master's program at Sapienza simultaneously.

Author of scientific publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals. International lecturer at congresses and continuing education courses across Europe and the USA. Winner of the H. Goldman Award for Basic Research (1998, Italian Society of Periodontology — SIdP). Founder and Past President of the Italian Association for the Study of Halitosis.
