Bruxism is a phenomenon that is gaining increasing interest from several medical and dental practitioners for its multifaceted clinical implications. This lesson aims to get deeper into the world of Sleep Bruxism and Sleep Apnea by describing the features of bruxism within the complex sleep architecture, with focus on its relationship with respiratory events.


Participants who will attend this course will learn that sleep bruxism is much more than "grinding the teeth”. Bruxism is a complex spectrum of jaw muscle activities with multifactorial etiology, and a variety of clinical manifestations, potential consequences, and interactions with possible comorbid conditions. Concerning the specific topic of the lecture, participants will deepen their knowledge on the cardiorespiratory polygraphy and use of MADs (Mandibular Advance Devices), by also discussing some interesting research projects and clinical cases.
