– La mordida abierta es una de las motivaciones más frecuentes. Se puede asociar a maloclusión clase I, II y III
– Es importante conocer los condicionantes etiopatogénicos, como alteraciones en la respiración, problemas neuromusculares
– Tradicionalmente, la impactación posterior era la técnica más utilizada
– En pacientes con exceso vertical maxilar, la cirugía maxilar es la clave
– En pacientes con rama vertical corta, sin patología condílea, la rotación antihoraria de la mandíbula es fundamental
– La mayoría de los pacientes requieren cirugía bimaxilar, y se obtienen estupendos resultados funcionales y estéticos.
