– Introduction to the GBR technique with cortical sheets
– Classification of crestal defects, mechanisms of bone resorption, review of the literature
– Scientific background and presentation of the different types of cortical sheets and indications for the use of the different types of sheets depending on the clinical situation
– Step-by-step surgical technique: from planning, to the type of incision, to the mobilization of the buccal and lingual flaps
– Suturing techniques to achieve primary closure
– Treatment of horizontal defects, vertical defects and combined (3D)
– Growth factors and fibrin glue
– Technique Modifications: F.I.R.S.T. (Fibrinogen Induced Regenerative Sealing Technique) and LEGO and their combinations
– Resolution of defects derived from peri-implantitis
– Resolution of cases with fractured and/or poorly positioned implants
– Use of the cortical lamina in aesthetic areas and treatment of multidisciplinary cases
– Complications and their management
– Projection of interventions carried out previously, commented on in all its phases.

Over 35 years of clinical and academic experience in regenerative periodontics and implantology. Established practice in Italy in 1993 after completing research and teaching positions in the United States. Specialist in management of intrabony defects, furcation lesions, and recession coverage using guided tissue regeneration techniques and biomaterials. Recognized internationally as one of the world's leaders in the field of bone regeneration.

 

Founding member and Vice President of the Bone Biomaterials and Beyond Academy, promoting evidence-based approaches to periodontal and bone regeneration. Professor at the Master's program in Periodontology at Sapienza University of Rome since 2000. Professor at the Master's program in Implantology and Prosthetics at University of Pisa since 2010. Coordinator of Postgraduate Course in Periodontal and Implant Surgery at University of Padua (1995-1996). International lecturer delivering courses on bone regeneration, GTR, and periodontal surgery worldwide.

 

DDS. Specialty in Periodontology with one year of research and teaching experience in the United States. Master of Science in Dentistry in Periodontology (1992). Author of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. Co-author of the textbook "Bone Biomaterials and Beyond" (Quintessence), contributing the chapter on periodontal regeneration. Active member of the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (IAED) and European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry (ESCD). Certified member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP). International member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).
