Lecturers 1

Oral and maxillofacial surgeon, implantologist, and piezoelectric surgery pioneer. Professor and Chair, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Daegu Catholic University School of Medicine, Daegu, Republic of Korea. Director, Implant CE Course, Daegu Catholic University (since 1998). Director of Implant Surgery, Catholic University Medical Center of Daegu.

One of the most influential figures in the global development of piezoelectric bone surgery — the first clinician to introduce Piezosurgery devices to the Asia-Pacific region (2002). Developer and principal researcher of the Hydrodynamic Piezoelectric Internal Sinus Elevation (HPISE) technique (2008) — a flapless, transcrestal, minimally invasive approach combining ultrasonic vibration and hydraulic pressure to elevate the sinus membrane without a lateral window. A multicenter clinical study of 250 maxillary sinuses using HPISE showed an average vertical bone gain of 5.49 mm and a 97.2% implant success rate, with a membrane perforation rate of 2.83%. Author of two Korean-language textbooks: Immediate Loading with Provisional Implants (Ji-Sung Publishing, 2002) and Clinical Applications of Sintered Porous Surface Implants (Gun-Ja Publishing). Author of numerous peer-reviewed publications in implant and oral surgery journals; Editorial Advisory Board Member, Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry. Website: hpise.com.

Recipient, Charles English Award in Implant Dentistry, ICOI (2007). Founding President, World Academy of Ultrasonic Piezoelectric Bone Surgery (WAUPBS). Former President, ICOI Asia-Pacific Section. Founding President, Korean Society of Oral Implantologists-ICOI Korea (2005).
