Ricketts cephalometry has been a contribution to scientific advancement in the area of orthodontics, it is also a demonstration of the clinical evidence to have an instrument for evaluating all areas of the craniofacial complex.
This analysis uses numerous anatomical points that give rise to a high number of cephalometric variables; however, the summary or summary analysis allows to quickly guide the diagnosis of the case studies, and in more complex cases, it can be deepened with the remaining factors of the total analysis.
The Ricketts cephalogram provides the characteristics of the lower third of the face depending on 5 parameters: Facial depth, Facial axis, Mandibular plane, Lower facial height and Mandibular arch. With them, he classifies facial types into: dolichofacial, mesofacial and brachifacial.
