She is on the board of the American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) and is a founder and Director of the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences.
Joy graduated from the Myofunctional Therapy Institute in Coral Gables, Florida, in 1980 and has an extensive background in Orofacial Myology and Dental Hygiene.
She has taught Myofunctional Therapy principles to graduate and post-graduate students at numerous prestigious institutions, including UCLA, USC, and universities in Germany, Belgium, and various professional groups.
