One of the world's most prolific and cited researchers in adhesive dentistry and cariology — with more than 500 peer-reviewed international publications and over 200 Japanese journal articles, encompassing dentin bonding mechanisms, self-etching adhesive systems, caries prevention, and the optical and mechanical properties of tooth-colored restorative systems. PhD mentorship lineage traces directly to Prof. Takao Fusayama — inventor of the acid-etching technique — and includes formative research collaboration with Prof. David Pashley (Augusta University) in 1987–1988. IADR Distinguished Scientist Award — Wilmer Souder Award (2017), the highest individual research recognition of the International Association for Dental Research. Honorary Degrees from King's College London and Mahidol University (Thailand). President's Award, Japanese Association of Dental Science.

DDS (1980) and PhD (1984) — Tokyo Medical and Dental University. First Honorary Member, International Academy of Adhesive Dentistry (IAAD, 2015).
