Description
Lesson 1.Treatment of worn dentition: interceptive approach. Clinical protocol, indications & limits
Tooth wear represents an increasing pathology with multifactorial origins and it became increasingly important to diagnose early signs of tooth wear so that proper preventive, and if needed, interceptive measures are taken before complex & more invasive rehabilitations become necessary. Following a comprehensive clinical evaluation, treatment objectives such as a proper occlusal and anatomical scheme as well as a pleasing smile line, are usually set on models following proper analogue or digital wax up. Based on the new Vertical Dimension of Occlusion (VDO) set on the articulator, combinations of direct free-hand or moulding techniques can be applied to restore aesthetics and function in all cases of moderate tissue loss. This program will review recent knowledge and clinical concepts related to various forms of early restorative interventions to successfully treat tooth wear.
