Orthodontist and inventor specializing in functional orthopedics and dentofacial orthopedics. Inventor of Twin Block appliances (1977) and TransForce lingual appliances (2004). Founder of New Horizons Orthodontics in Scotland.

 

Over 50 years of orthodontic practice experience developing innovative functional appliances for Class II malocclusion correction and arch development. Twin Block technique became the most widely used functional appliance throughout the world for mandibular advancement, documented in thousands of successful clinical cases. Developed Fixed Twin Blocks representing the next logical advance in functional orthopedic therapy. In cooperation with Ortho Organizers, designed invisible TransForce lingual appliances for interceptive treatment through arch development, suitable for treatment from mixed dentition through adult therapy.

 

International lecturer having presented courses in over 50 countries during 35 years of educational activity. First recipient of Award of Distinction from the British Orthodontic Society for outstanding contribution to the specialty of orthodontics. Recipient of award from International Functional Association (IFUNA) in 2008 for personal outstanding international service to functionalism and orthodontics.

 

BDS. DDO (Diploma in Dental Orthopedics). DDSc (2010), thesis titled "New Horizons in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics." FDSRCS Eng (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England). Author of the textbook "Twin Block Functional Therapy: Applications in Dentofacial Orthopaedics" (Mosby, 2002), the definitive reference on Twin Block technique translated into multiple languages.
