Orthodontist with more than three decades of clinical and teaching experience. Founder of Beethoven Orthodontic Center and Newton’s A Inc. in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Earned a PhD in Bone Physiology and a Certificate in Orthodontics from Indiana University. Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and active member of the Angle Society–Midwest.

Clinical and scientific work focuses on temporary anchorage devices, extra-alveolar skeletal anchorage, and orthodontic biomechanics. Dr. Chang invented the OrthoBoneScrew (OBS®) system and developed clinical protocols using strategic bone screw placement to control tooth movement in three dimensions. These approaches are applied in the treatment of impacted teeth, open bites, facial asymmetries, and selected complex Class II and Class III malocclusions, including cases managed without orthognathic surgery.

International lecturer and educator teaching OBS biomechanics through courses, workshops, and clinical demonstrations worldwide. Publisher of the Journal of Digital Orthodontics and author and co-author of the six-volume Orthodontics book series, as well as clinical publications on skeletal anchorage and the biomechanics of complex orthodontic treatment.

Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Yonsei University College of Dentistry in Seoul, South Korea, and former Dean of the College. President of the World Implant Orthodontic Association since 2024 and Honorary President of the Korean Cleft Lip and Palate Association since 2023.

Clinical and scientific work focuses on skeletal anchorage, miniscrew-driven biomechanics, and the use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs) in complex orthodontic treatment. Key areas of expertise include miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) in adults, non-extraction treatment, total arch distalization and intrusion, lingual orthodontic mechanics, treatment of impacted and non-erupting teeth, management of hyperdivergent facial patterns, and surgery-first approaches using TADs. Research interests also include bone and craniofacial suture responses to orthodontic forces.

Among the first researchers to clinically demonstrate MARPE in adults, including a 2010 clinical report published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, clinical reports, and book chapters on skeletal anchorage, transverse expansion, total arch movement, and contemporary orthodontic biomechanics.

Received a DDS and PhD from Yonsei University College of Dentistry and completed specialist training in orthodontics at Yonsei University Dental Hospital. Visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine from 2002 to 2004 and at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from 2010 to 2011. Served as an adjunct professor at Temple University from 2010 to 2011 and at the University of Pennsylvania from 2016 to 2019.

International lecturer and reviewer for scientific journals including the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, The Angle Orthodontist, and the European Journal of Orthodontics. International member of the American Association of Orthodontists and member of the World Federation of Orthodontists.

One of France's leading academic and clinical educators in aligner orthodontics — managing EUMAA (European Master of Aligners), a structured postgraduate training programme in aligner mechanics with France-based certification.

Board Member, SFOPA (Société Française d'Orthodontie par Aligneurs — French Aligner Society, since 2016). Lecturer at the University of Ivry and the University of La Réunion — both delivering University Certificates and Diplomas in aligner orthodontics.
