Orthodontist specializing in aesthetic orthodontics, orthognathic surgery treatment planning, and soft tissue management. Diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics. Member of Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. Adjunct Professor at University of North Carolina. Private practice at Sarver Streeter Orthodontics, Vestavia Hills (Birmingham), Alabama.

 

Over 47 years of clinical and academic experience in orthodontics since completing specialty training in 1979. Bachelor of Science from Auburn University (1973). DDS from University of Alabama School of Dentistry (1977), named by Omicron Delta Kappa as Outstanding Professional Student in Medical Center. Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from University of North Carolina (1979). Opened private practice in Birmingham in 1979, continuing to present day. Fellow in both International College of Dentists and American College of Dentists, prestigious honorary organizations recognizing outstanding professional achievements.

 

International authority on aesthetic orthodontics and integration of soft tissue esthetics with traditional orthodontic treatment. Author of landmark textbook "Esthetic Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery" (Mosby), establishing comprehensive framework for incorporating facial aesthetics into orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. Co-author of "Contemporary Treatment of Dentofacial Deformity" with surgical colleagues. Contributing author to "Contemporary Orthodontics" by Proffit, Fields, and Sarver, the most widely used orthodontic textbook globally. Pioneer in developing concept of "smile arc" and its clinical application. Research on aesthetic orthodontics featured on NBC Today Show in segment with Katie Couric and Dr. Christine Dumas, and on ABC's The View, bringing aesthetic orthodontic concepts to mainstream audiences.

Maxillofacial surgeon and plastic surgeon; Founder and Director of Face Smile Centre (Moscow) — one of the very few clinics in Russia with a practice exclusively dedicated to functional and aesthetic orthognathic surgery. Among the first surgeons in Russia to perform orthognathic surgery as a routine clinical discipline (early 2000s), at a time when the specialty was virtually absent from Russian clinical practice.

 

Clinical expertise covers the full spectrum of jaw surgery: Le Fort I and bilateral sagittal split osteotomies, chin surgery, distraction osteogenesis, facial asymmetry correction, TMJ surgery, and airway-driven orthodontic-surgical treatment planning. Since 2020, attending plastic and maxillofacial surgeon at the Medical Science and Education Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Previously: Senior Research Scientist, Department of Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, FMBA Federal Scientific-Clinical Center of Otorhinolaryngology, Moscow (2014–2018).

 

MD — Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (1995); PhD in Maxillofacial Surgery. Member of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS, since 2004). Chairman of the Maxillofacial Surgery Section, Russian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons (RAPRAS).

 

Practising orthodontist who works part-time as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at the Sechenov University.

 

Dr. Yakoub teaches undergraduate students and orthodontic residents.
