Over 30 years of experience in implant dentistry research and quality assurance. Expert in implant surface cleanliness evaluation, manufacturing quality control in implant production, peri-implantitis prevention related to surface contamination, quality differences between titanium and ceramic implants, and clinical implications of contaminated implants. Founder and leader of research demonstrating that many dental implants have surface contamination "from the factory" (ab Werk) that can contribute to peri-implantitis and implant failure. Known for pioneering work exposing widespread quality deficiencies in implant manufacturing and advocating for higher industry standards.
Author of numerous scientific publications on implant surface quality and contamination. International lecturer presenting extensively throughout Europe on topics including "Fifty Shades of Grey and White: Titanium vs. Ceramic - Quality Differences in Implants and Consequences for Dentists," "Defects from the Factory: Extent, Clinical Consequences and Legal Implications of Contaminated Implants," and "Peri-implantitis from the Factory? Why 'Contaminated' Implants Have Consequences." Regular speaker at major implant conferences including ISMI (International Society for Metal-Free Implantology) Annual Meetings, BDIZ EDI congresses, and Digital Dentistry Society events. His research has fundamentally changed understanding of implant surface quality and led to improved manufacturing standards and quality control protocols throughout the dental implant industry. Advocate for independent quality testing and transparency in implant manufacturing.
