Over 35 years of clinical and academic experience in periodontology and regenerative medicine. Recognized internationally as one of the world's leading authorities in periodontal regeneration, plastic-esthetic periodontal surgery, and treatment of peri-implant infections. Research focus on periodontal wound healing and regeneration, enamel matrix derivatives, growth factors, lasers and photodynamic therapy in treatment of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, and novel regenerative approaches. Director of numerous multi-center randomized controlled clinical trials establishing evidence-based protocols for periodontal regeneration.

Past President of Periodontal Research Group of International Association for Dental Research (IADR, 2009-2010). Past President of Swiss Society of Periodontology (SSP).
