El arco utilitario de intrusión de Ricketts es probablemente el arco más usado para intrusiones de los cuatro incisivos, para confeccionarlo se utiliza elgiloyazul 16x16 y se coloca en brackets con un slot 18. Al preparar el arcoutilitario lo vamos a adecuar a nuestra plantilla de  arcos pentamórficos, siguiendo la misma curvatura. 
Cuando se instale en el paciente el segmento anterior del arco utilitario me debe quedar paralelo a la línea bipupilar. 
Tenga en cuenta que la cantidad de energía a incorporar es de 75 Newton medido con el dinamómetro. La fuerza se  aplica lejos del centro de resistencia por lo que los incisivos se van a inclinar hacia vestibular así que es necesario hacer compensaciones.
