Completed undergraduate dental degree in 1986 and followed this with an MSc in Dentistry in 1994, before graduating as an orthodontist in 1995 all at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was then admitted as a Fellow in the College of Medicine of South Africa in the Branch of Orthodontics in 1996. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Past President of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa and the South African Society of Orthodontists.
