The main direction of the doctor’s research activity is associated with the reaction of pulp and periapical tissues for the carious process and for treatment. Head of own histological laboratory. The world’s leading expert in the field of microscopy of hard tissues. Published over 80 articles, is the author and co-author of eight books on topical issues of endodontics. Speaks actively on endodontics at the most prestigious dental conferences. Co-author of the book «Endodontology: Clinical and Biological Aspects».
 

Dr. Martin Trope was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where he received his BDS degree in dentistry in 1976.

From 1976 to 1980 he practiced General Dentistry and Endodontics.

In 1980 he moved to Philadelphia to specialize in Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating as an Endodontist he continued at the University of Pennsylvania as a faculty member until 1989 when he became Chair of Endodontology at Temple University, School of Dentistry.

In 1993 he accepted the JB Freedland Professorship in the Department of Endodontics, UNC at Chapel Hill.

Named in honor of one of the founding fathers of Endodontics, the Freedland Professorship recognizes significant contributions to the specialty.

In 2014, he was awarded the Jens Ove Andreasen Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Dental Traumatology.

Dr. Trope is Clinical Professor, Department of Endodontics, University of Pennsylvania. He is also in private practice.

 
Past President of the Italian Endodontic Society S.I.E. Past President of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations I.F.E.A. Active Member of the European Society of Endodontology E.S.E. Active Member of the American Association of Endodontists A.A.E. Assistant Professor of Endodontics at the University of Cagliari Dental School and Professor of Micro-Surgical Endodontics at the Specialty of Oral Surgery of the University Federico II of Naples. Very well known international lecturer, gave lectures all around the world and published articles on Endodontics in the most prestigious Endodontic Journals. The author of the textbook “EndodonticS” and of “Micro-Surgical Endodontics” edited by EDRA Publisher.
 

Dr. James L. Gutmann is Professor Emeritus in Endodontics/Restorative Sciences, Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, Dallas, Texas.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, Past President of the American Association of Endodontists and Past President of the American Academy of the History of Dentistry, in addition to being the Editor of the Journal of the History of Dentistry.

He has presented over 800 lectures, papers, and continuing education courses in the United States and 52 foreign countries.

Additionally he has authored or co-authored over 300 articles in both dental journals that address scientific, research, educational, and clinical topics and 3 text books; and has taught full time for over 27 years at three major universities, in addition to being in endodontic practice.

He has received numerous awards, including but not limited to being awarded an Honorary Professorship at the School of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China; the Hayden-Harris Award from the American Academy of the History of Dentistry; a lifetime Merit Award from his high school, Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, WI; The I. B. Bender Lifetime Educator Award from the American Association of Endodontists; the Edgar D. Coolidge Award, the highest award conferred by the American Association of Endodontists and an Honorary Fellowship in Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Scotland.
