President of the German Society of Dentistry and Oral Medicine (DGZMK, 2018-2022). Managing Director of the University Center for Dental Medicine, Marburg (2012-2015, 2023-present). Director of the Master's Program in Pediatric Dentistry at Philipps University Marburg (since 2021).

Over 30 years of clinical and academic experience in adhesive dentistry, minimally invasive restorative dentistry, endodontics, and dental materials science. Research focuses on adhesive systems, bonding protocols, resin-based restorative materials, ceramic restorations, and long-term clinical performance of adhesive restorations. Expert in evidence-based approaches to conservative tooth-preserving dentistry.

Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry (since 2015) and Quintessence Journal (2010-2020). Chairman of the Advisory Board for Dentistry at the Institute for Medical and Pharmaceutical Examination Questions (IMPP) since 2021. Former President of the German Society of Conservative Dentistry (DGZ, 2012-2014).
