Professor and Chair of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Otago (New Zealand); Head of the Postgraduate Programme in Orthodontics (Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry); and Director of the Craniofacial Research Programme. Clinical practice limited exclusively to orthodontics. European Board Certified Specialist in Orthodontics with over 30 years of clinical experience.

Internationally recognized research authority on jaw function, bruxism, orofacial muscles, and temporomandibular joint biomechanics. Research supported by grants exceeding €1 million from European and New Zealand funding bodies. Recipient of the Alan Docking Award (International Association for Dental Research), the Sir John Walsh Award, and the Research Supervisor of the Year Award (University of Otago, 2021). Associate Editor of Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research and the Korean Journal of Orthodontics; Editorial Board member of the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. Has lectured in 22 countries.

International speaker on craniofacial growth, bruxism, and orthodontic biomechanics.
