Professor and Chairman of the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry at the Center for Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland (since January 2022). Specialist in prosthodontics, oral surgery, and implant therapy with over 25 years of combined clinical, research, and teaching experience. Maintains limited private practice alongside full-time academic position.

 

Extensive clinical expertise in aesthetic implant dentistry, complex bone and soft tissue augmentation procedures, guided bone regeneration (GBR), immediate implant placement, and digital workflows for implant prosthodontics. Research focuses on hard and soft tissue management around implants, new technologies in implant dentistry including digital planning and guided surgery, biomaterials for bone regeneration, and long-term outcomes of implant therapy. Supervises multiple PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.

 

President-Elect of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO). Past President of the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry (SSO). Member of the Board of Directors of the Osteology Foundation. Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). Course Leader for EAO Master Diploma modules at University of Zurich. One of the most cited researchers in implant dentistry with over 250 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Clinical Oral Implants Research, Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. International keynote speaker presenting at major dental congresses worldwide. Editorial board member and reviewer for multiple scientific journals.
