DAY 1
Lecture 1. Esthetic dentistry
Partial bonded restorations have become for the last fifteen years the most esthetic, biologic and biomechanic solution to restore dental defects and mimic the nature.
At the same time materials, technic, concepts brought us all the solution to offer a contemporary dentistry to our patient.
Dental manufacturers offer awesome product. These need to fit with a precise methodology in order to propose solutions to the dentist and improve their daily life.
The aim of this presentation will be to suggest a simple way of working and thinking which can be resumed by these 3 key words: simple, teachable and repeatable.
Laminate veneer would be presented as a versatile tool to solve cosmetic problem.
Both of these topics use the same philosophy (minimal invasive approaches), same bonded materials (CAD CAM material, press material), same concept (visualisation, validation, navigation through the mock up) and same clinical procedure (prep design, temporisation, cementation).
Esthetic dentistry becomes simple, digital and more than this accessible.
Lecture 2. Worn dentiton. The full mock-up concept
Treating tooth wear has increased over the last two decades. Nevertheless, the treatments involved have not been satisfactory to most patients, nor have they achieved the expected goal on some worn teeth.
New approaches have emerged to reconstruct full arches in a minimally invasive way. They take advantage of developments in the field of adhesive dentistry. These new concepts constitute a revolution in dentistry and their application requires adapted techniques and training.
The purpose of this article is to suggest a precise and reproducible method that simplifies the treatment of worn dentition. A wax up and a mock-up that is mostly used for designing esthetic outcome, and then used as a guide (preparation through the mock up or the wax up- apt for the preparation of anterior teeth). As described by the authors it can as well be used on the posterior occlusal surfaces of the teeth. This will not only provide the exact new vertical dimension of occlusion but will let the dentist use it as a guide for precisely controlling occlusal preparation simultaneously with buccal preparation
The classical cavity design for a partial bonded restoration on posterior worn dentition is also reviewed. The authors believe that during the preparation of the occlusal surfaces of the posterior teeth surfaces the marginal ridges must be preserved to reduce the biological cost and the mechanical stress leading to fracture.
A new type of thin and reduced restoration called `table top` is presented.
DAY 2
Workshop 1. How to use a mock up for a precise and repeatable prep protocol
– How to make a mock-up;
– How to control depth of the cut;
– Selection of the bur;
– Material for the mock-up;
– Sprecificities of the prep (too buccal, too palatal..);
– Finishing step;
– Tips and tricks for impression;
– How to make you own silicon index for controlling your prep..
Workshop 2: Сementation of laminate veneer in a repeatable way
– How to place a rubber dam for individual dam in 20 sec;
– Tips and tricks for the isolation;
– Preparation of the tooth: bonding procedure;
– Preparation of the laminate;
– Finishing step.
Workshop 3: The full mock-up technique in worn dentition
– How to place a precise full mock-up on 1 arche;
– Prep driven by functional mock-up in posterior area;
– Prep driven by esthetic mock-up in anterior area;
– Functional laminate: prep for a table top;
– Sandwich restoration in posterior area.
On the workshop we will shape your vision on a number of questions:
– Recipes for designing a smile;
– Recipes for specific clinical issues: dyschromia, disposition, worn dentition;
– A precise and repeatable method for managing simple and complex case as well following a guided protocol;
– Recipes for cementation laminate veneer, table top, crown;
– Use of emax material for each clinical indication (choice of ingot, thickness required..);
– Latest emax improvement (multi, MT...) with lab pictures;
– How to jump into digital dentistry from cosmetic to functional rehabilitation.
