This comprehensive course combines clinical, laboratory, and esthetic protocols to enhance your confidence and predictability in delivering minimally invasive bonded restorations.

– Fundamentals of Smile Design and Photoshop Smile Design
– Indications and Contraindications for Minimally Invasive Veneers, Inlays, Onlays, and Vonlays
– Material Selection: What to Use, When, and Where
– Shade Analysis
– BFEPs (Bonded Functional Esthetic Prototypes / Mock-Ups)
– Step-by-Step Preparation Techniques for Anterior and Posterior Teeth
– Adhesive Cementation Protocols
– Occlusal Considerations.


Hands-On Lab


Participants will perform all techniques demonstrated in the lectures using typodonts and specially designed casts. Hands-on sessions follow each lecture and demonstration, guiding participants through:

 

– Smile design and BFEP fabrication with a high-strength composite
– Minimally invasive preparations customized to esthetic and functional outcomes
– Step-by-step adhesive cementation techniques.


Learning Objectives


Participants will learn and perform:

 

– Smile Design fundamentals and Photoshop-based previews
– Fabrication of BFEPs (bonded diagnostic prototypes)
– Conservative prep techniques for anterior and posterior teeth
– Approaches for diastema closure and managing peg laterals
– No-prep, selective prep, and conventional prep decision-making
– Dentin sealing protocols and shade-based prep planning
– Posterior block-out and margin elevation with structural flowable composites
– Fabrication of final prototypes
– Cementation strategies: self-etch, total-etch, selective-etch
– Application of Universal Adhesives (4th Gen 2.0 concept).


Key Hands-On Techniques


– Clear matrix fabrication for BFEP delivery
– BFEPs using structural light-cured flowable composite
– Minimal or no-prep veneer cases
– Precision reduction techniques for bonded porcelain restorations
– Posterior onlay, vonlay, and veneer preparation
– Adhesive and cementation demonstrations with hands-on practice.

Prosthodontist and master ceramist specializing in aesthetic dentistry, dental ceramics, and digital restorative workflows. Professor at University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry. Former Director of UCLA Center for Aesthetic Dentistry. Founder and former Director of UCLA School for Aesthetic Dental Design.

 

Over 35 years of clinical experience in prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry. One of the very few dentists worldwide holding dual credentials as both board-certified prosthodontist and master dental ceramist, personally fabricating all ceramic restorations for his patients. Graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from University of Redlands. Received DDS with honors (Omicron Kappa Upsilon) from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Completed specialty certificate in Prosthodontics from UCLA School of Dentistry. Former Associate Professor at UCLA in Biomaterials and Advanced Prosthodontics Department. Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Oregon Dental School.

 

Currently Professor at UAB School of Dentistry serving as: Co-Director of Biomaterials Division; Co-Director of Postgraduate Aesthetic Restorative Material Science Masters 3-Year Residency Program; Founder and Director of 3-Year Advanced Ceramics and Digital Technology Program for Technicians; Founder and Director of One-Year Aesthetic and Restorative Fellowship. Trained over 300 graduates worldwide who are now leaders in aesthetic dentistry and master ceramics. International lecturer presenting extensively across USA and globally on dental ceramics, biomaterials, digital workflows, and aesthetic restorative techniques.

 

DDS from University of the Pacific. Certificate in Prosthodontics from UCLA. Master Dental Ceramist certification. Member of American College of Prosthodontists, American Association for Dental Research (AADR), and American Dental Association (ADA). Published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on ceramic materials, bonding protocols, digital dentistry integration, and aesthetic treatment planning. Actively involved in prosthodontic and biomaterials research conducting ongoing clinical studies on various restorative systems. Private practice limited to prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry in which he personally fabricates all ceramics.
